Yet again another exciting web-update:
I have finished recording my debut album for hhanoi, will be playing with the g.headz at the Treibhaus and we will be playing our first show with PG3 (Peter Greier Trio). There are also a couple of Gelée Royal shows coming up and plans for a new band with Chris Vano.

What an exciting year this has been - here a some headlines:
- 4 new albums have been released!
-first shows, Live-CD and Videos, Germany tour with hhanoi
- Festival shows with Dominik Plangger, g.headz and The Basement 5
- a lot of great gigs with more than 15 different bands

Here are the plans for the rest of the year:

Today we - Red Hotch A La Peppers - are going to play the Treibhaus, tomorrow in Wattens. I am really looking forward to that!

Castles made of Sand

What a beautiful summer start:
The Treibhaus gig with Cosmic Girls & Space Cowboys was a big success!
Last week we played with Dominik Plangger at a big German festival called "Songs an einem Sommerabend", and next week I'll be playing the Innsbruck New Orleans Festival with the g.headz.

There will be 3 shows with hhanoi in Berlin and two more impro gigs on bass in Germany's Capital at Avantgarden of Eden. I'm really looking forward to experiencing the city from that point of view!

Last but not least I will be a well deserved holiday!

Long road to ruim

A lot of things have happened since the last news update:

The first live-shows of hhanoi have been very exciting. The feedback was pretty good including two follow-up gigs. Two months ago hhanoi was just some songs on my desks, now I have videos, pictures, a website and some people that already showed up to more than one gig - I dare call them "fans".

The g.headz album has been recorded and will be out by summer. We will present the new material at the Treibhaus and the New Orleans Festival in Innsbruck.

COSMIC GIRLS & AND SPACE COWBOYS will be back in town on the 1st of July and will be featuring a special guest this time!

The Basement 5 - a funk-hiphop-dance-impro band with DJ will be performing in May and June. You have probably not seen something like this before, so come and have a look!

Belly Button Window is writing and rehearsing frequently with our new bandmember Gündo on vocals, guitar and synthesizer.

I am the Walrus

Spring has arrived!

I am gonna be brief this time: hhanoi is playing live for the first time very soon. I really hope to be able to play my songs to a lot of people - there is so much of my heart in it!

My discography has gained two new albums: Steve Liam with "Rausch der Welt", and Alphacloud with "Past Forward" - of which I am very proud! It is available for free download: alphacloud.fm so go and get it! Another album is being made in early april: G.Headz - a very cool 10 piece funk band.

Before the Beginning

How hard work it is to write decent lyrics! I've been songwriting a lot lately and found out it is much easier to me to express my feelings through music than through lyrics. All this effort goes into hhanoi which has my main focus at the moment. There is also a couple of gigs coming up - be there!

So, as usual, I'm never bored and always occupied with a lot of different musical projects. My itiniary is pretty full with things I like, I am pretty happy and spring is coming soon - what else would one need?

Happy New Year!

What a great year this has been!
I updated the dates section, where you can see my activities from 2010. I have been very fortunate to play with a lot of great musicians and bands and to be part of 3 album releases.

Anyways, I am spring-cleaning my musical activities right now: 2010 have been way too many rehearsals so I need to set some priorities. Nevertheless you can expect 2 albums featuring my bass-playing coming out very soon (Tyroll / Steve Liam), I am planning to record another solo album later this year and there is going to be a lot of lovely gigs like Gelée Royal in January and Cosmic Girls & Space Cowboys in February. Also, there is a new project on the way: The Basement Five playing the first show in January at the Weekender-Club.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps

After having a quite relaxed September and October with my focus on the new teaching job and not so many gigs, it's turning around again. There are and have been a lot of rehearsals: Last week I stepped in to play bass at Carlo Balloons album release party. Now we are rehearsing for Flower Age (a band playing crazy stuff from the 60ies, 70ies and 80ies), Dominik Plangger, Cosmic Girls and Space Cowboys, and Cookie Jar.

Apart from that I have been song writing a lot lately - for Belly Button Window on the one hand and for my next Solo Album on the other. Mainly acoustic guitar and vocals - just songs!
I am really looking forward to finishing the songs - at the moment there are some lyrics to be written - and to playing them live. Probably just me, myself and my guitar...

Summer was great!
Life is still very good to me. Between cool gigs and writing a lot of songs for Belly Button Window there was and is also some studio work to do, which I enjoy a lot! Apart from that I prepare for my new teaching job starting next week.

Am Fenster

There would be so many things to talk about like a new teaching job in autumn, the release of a Live-EP by Belly Button Window, one of the best gigs of my life with Cosmic Girls and Space Cowboys, the upcoming Germany-Festivals with Dominik Plangger - the list goes on and on!

Anyways, I am pretty tired right now and in desperate need of holidays! Therefor the planned big update of this site will have to wait until september. I am off to Germany this week and after that we will be on a two week hiking tour through the alps!

Travelling Without Moving

I must admit that I’ve been quite lazy with my online appearance lately. Sorry about that! For now I’m gonna tell you some news and will update my projects site. Next time I really should add some pics – there are quite a few good ones!

Gelée Royal is still playing at the Treibhaus on second Tuesdays of every month. We had some great gigs so far and the future looks promising as well. We have very fine guests to join us, so come and have a look! The next dates are 11.5., 1.6. and 13.7.

Belly Button Window – we had our first gig in March and made a multi-track live recording. It’s being mixed at this very moment and should be finished soon. We have already been talking about airplay and a 5 track EP should be available for FREE DOWNLOAD pretty soon! We are also on Facebook, if you wanna friend us.

Rehearsals for a brand new musical called “Lulu” started at the Tiroler Landestheater. Lot’s of strings, horns, violence and lovemaking…

Next week my good friend Louis Goldblum and I are going to record an album for Dominik Plangger, a singer-songwriter with great songs and lyrics. We will do that at Prime Studios, which are supposed to be pretty neat!

Cosmis Girls is the name of a new band of mine, a tribute to Jamiroquai – obviously! We had one rehearsal so far and it seems like it’s going to be really cool! There is going to be gigs in summer, so stay tuned!!

1983... (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)

Only two more weeks until we have our debut gig with BELLY BUTTON WINDOW. I am really looking forward to this. Although it’s strange for me to play guitar I enjoy singing and writing songs – it all makes perfect sense.

Good news for Gelée Royal. After we’ve had a couple of gigs all over Tirol we have been offered to play every second tuesday nights at the Treibhaus. It’s called Gelée Royal Workstation and we basically do the same as usual – Louis Goldblum and I invite one or two musicians and have a jam. We are very very happy to have this opportunity and we promise to try some crazy stuff!!

Winter season is coming to an end and I had quite a good time with different covers bands.
In May and June I’m going to play the musical Lulu at the Tiroler Landestheater, and there are already many plans for summer!

And last but not least: I bought a new bass! It’s a Fender Custom Shop Jazz Bass, 1966 Closet Classic. Master built by Mark Kendrick – one of 100! I already have one amazing 1972 Jazz Bass that blew away every other Jazz Bass I tried so far, but this new one I just crazy! I don’t know how such a simple instrument can be that unbelievably good! Anways, they are both in use now and I wouldn’t give eitherone away!

I guess I’m gonna ad new pictures with the next news update and there should also be some of my new bass!

Come Alive

So it´s 2010 now.
I enjoyed 2009 although it was a very rough year for so many people in the world! The major event for me was the release of my first solo album „Best of“, but apart from that so many other great things happened, like my journy to Viet Nam, my first musical-shows, the birth of my nephew Max, the Richie Kotzen Support, the birth of new bands, playing with almost 20 different bands or simply just all the great moments of making music with others.

Plans for 2010
My new band Belly Button Window has already 9 songs done and will be playing the first gig on March 19th! It´s a big luxury to have time for a band like that.

Approximately in March/April we will start a Jamiroquai tribute band with Stefanie Fettner on vocals, Florian Baumgartner on drums, myself on bass and many others.

Hopefully we have a chance to play with Red Hotch A La Peppers this summer – at least we have plans to do so.

I enjoy playing cover gigs and I’m happy to feel that way. There might be more gigs with Cookie Jar and End of June (new band) next year. We will see how that goes.

And last but certainly not least I will finish my internship at grammer school in july – finally! We will see what autumn brings to me.

Starchild

So one more news update before I can draw a conclusion about 2009. I already have some exciting plans for 2010, but more about that next time.

The album is selling pretty well and I’m still very proud and happy about it. You still can order via mail or buy in iTunes. I get the best responses on "Willston Lane", which is also one of my favourites. Therapy-Music! Starting while recording those songs I wrote a bunch of new ones in that singer-songwriter kind of style. In the meantime we started a band and have another rehearsal today. It’s a straightforward kick-ass-rock-trio with Vince on bass, Lurz on drums and me on guitar and vocals.

Gig situation is great - I play a lot but not too much and I’m so blessed to play with friends that are far beyond good - world-class musicians!!

Work it out

so there it is: my debut album "BEST OF" is out and available to all of you. You can order a copy via email, download it on iTunes or buy one from me when you meet me next time. There's samples online on myspace and in my new DISCO section.

Getting the album done was a lot of work but I am really happy with the result and I would be even happier if some of you would listen to and and maybe buy it.

Next thing finished is a major update of this website. There´s a new section DISCO with some of the studio work I did and some new pics.

All along the watchtower

my album work is done and today I gave the master disc to the factory!

life was busy like hell the last months and I..m really looking forward to my well deserved holiday!! we're leaving on monday to hit thailand and vietnam for four weeks. when I'm back my album will be done and out for sale!

The live-situation has been a bit more relaxed the last weeks and I was really enjoying that.
Lately I'm finding my way more and more into swing, which is pretty cool and adventurous.

Starting with the pre-premiere on 19th of May and premiere on 20th of May, the musical RENT will be played nearly every night for three week.
I'm looking foreward to this experience! It will be fun to play but also exhausting.

Turn it on

While I'm still strugglin with a titel for my upcoming album, drums and bass have successfully been recorded, as well as the rhythm guitars and two guitar solos that I played. Last week I was honoured to have two amazing guitarists play solos on some ofthe songs: Andi Tausch and Peter Greier.

By the end of April recordings should be finished, watch this space for moreupdates on my album.

Rising down

February is really busy and fortunately quite a lot of gigs. In january I spent lot of energy in finishing some of my compositions that I started last year in London and also wrote new stuff.
Starting in march I will be recording those songs to make an album – yeah!
This is going to be a great time and lots of work - stay tuned for more information.

Lately I started a new teaching job in Innsbruck that I enjoy a lot.

Tonight and tomorrow I'll be playing with Stefan 9er's Brototype, supporting Richie Kotzen tomorrow. Gelée Royal is still on the road frequently so look out for gigs on MySpace!!

Playing Drum&Groove last week was awesome - we'll play again in April, so don't miss it.

Communication Breakdown

all new!
new songs, new bands, new pics, new dates, ...

it took tremendous energy to get all my new acts together! i got involved a bit too much in managing and organizing. me and my inner voice – communication breakdown. no joy, just dates, names, numbers,... – finally leading to a master reset (babalon). sounds confused? yes I was ;)

now, able to take things a bit easier, I'm really blessed with a reasonable number of gigs with my new bands. I can proudly say that I enjoy every gig a lot and can play with people that I highly respect and appreciate!

Milk it

I'm busy as hell – I guess I might have been a little bit overmotivated with starting new bands. But after all it's really cool to have many things going on: new bands, songwriting, gigging, practicing and teaching.

As soon as everything is sorted with band names etc. there will be a major update on this space. In the meantime I'll be in london visiting the lovely city, some friends and playing a show.

Impressions

so much jazz in my head... and again so much input of all kind of sorts – it couldn't be better! June is a very good month – here in london as well as in Austria: Red Hotch A La Peppers gig again in the "Bergisel Stadion" in Innsbruck. Here in the UK I play(ed) shows with different RnB artists like Nicola Sipprell and Archeo Price or show case gigs like "Live@No.5" Check out my myspace to see those artists.

There's also a new video on myspace with a very fine London drummer "Terron Murray" who I play with regularly.

It's good to say that after only two months in London I'm getting involved in quite a few interesting projects.
Apart from working with different solo artists I'm starting to gig and play with lot's of great musicians on different occasions.

Yes! Finally my website is online.

Thanks a lot to Basti and Tom for making it happen!

There's plenty of songs in the projects section – check it out!
A lot of wicked stuff, like "Henry X goes to the gym", "Vincent Stergin", my solo stuff "So Seven", and many more.

Since the beginning of January I've been living in London and studying at The Bass Institute. It's a great city and all the new input is just what I've been looking for. I focus on improving my abilities and playing jams with lots of different people. There's still a few gigs happening in Austria as you can see in the Dates section. Here in London I try not to rush into anything and keep on auditioning and looking for the right thing.
